Moulded Forms and Concealed Objects

The starting point for this body of work comes from a desire to cultivate a sense of intimacy between wearer and garment, with a focus on craftsmanship and material led design. Building from practices traditionally used in millinery, elements of each piece are specifically moulded to the body in wool felt. The moulded pieces create the feeling of being still, holding you in a moment. This moulding process is further reflected in sculpted details throughout each piece. Abstract moulded shapes create the sense of objects concealed below the surface of the fabric, a secret shared between wearer and garment, furthering this sense of intimacy. The following portfolio shows Rebecca’s work in progress. Having delayed the final year of her studies, Rebecca is still working on her final collection and will complete her MA in September 2022. Rebecca is the recipient of the Kildare Village Fashion Scholarship.
