INTERDIGITATE

INTERDIGITATE: COLLECTION STATEMENT A 6 look RTW collection drawing inspiration from hand-sourced vintage garments. Leather gloves were a starting point resulting in draped continuous hemlines, pearl buttons, and buttonholes as decorative and functional features. The word, ‘interdigitate’ conjures imagery of two hands interlocking illustrating the hand-sewn insertion stitch details and continuous, looping hems seen throughout. The gloves potential to be animate and inanimate becoming a surrealist object when separated from the body is a theme that fascinates me and was explored through the use of fringe.
