My collection was initially inspired by the conceptual self-portrait photographer, Juno Calypso. Focusing on femininity and unnerving imagery she photographs herself in clinical and domestic settings in a beautiful yet jarring manner. I was particularly interested in the drape created by the various curtains in the photographs, and this led me to looking at my late Mothers wedding dress as inspiration because she made it herself out of curtain fabric. She focused on volume and shape to suit her medieval wedding theme. She taught herself to sew at a young age and went on to teach me when I was a young child. This collection is an homage to femininity and its influences I have experienced but most importantly it is a thank you to my Mum.
