FIGURED IT OUT

Figured It Out' is the 2023 Autumn/Winter collection by LAU graduate, Imogen-Jade. What began as a love letter to craftmanship has ended as a breath of fresh air for the tailoring world. Showcasing their skill for pattern cutting, the collection pivots on an innovated jacket dubbed 'The Folding Jacket', with every pattern piece intricately folded with another. 'The Folded Jacket' not only demonstrates pattern problem solving, but also displays the complexity that the industry has been missing. With this bespoke jacket at its core, the collection sees a marriage of origami and traditional tailoring techniques, resulting in bold sculptural pieces that aim to empower the wearer and act as a metaphorical armour, The phrase 'Figured It Out' embodied the collection when the designer, Imogen-Jade, realised that it was not enough for the pattern pieces to be completely unique and complex, but also crucial that the audience does not understand how each garment has been constructed.
