Dreamscape' is a womenswear collection inspired by Surrealisms' fascination with dreams and the unconscious mind. It embodies the movements' recurring themes of illusion, distortion, and juxtaposition. Also taking inspiration from conceptual designers such as Rei Kawakubo and Iris Van Herpen, the collection features rounded silhouettes, billowing sleeves, and curved lines to give a dreamlike feeling. Fabric manipulation techniques such as pintucks are used to create shaping and volume within the garments and to distort the fabrics and prints featured in the collection. A graphic print has been developed, made using a photograph of a building which has been bent and distorted to create an image that wouldn't exist in our reality, emphasising the 'surrealist' of the collection, as if it were something you would only see in a dream. A range of other printed fabrics have also been incorporated, bold graphic prints as well as stripes and ginghams which continue to emphasise illusion.
