I came to study at UCA from Northern Ireland where I grew up and lived with my family after immigrating from the Philippines in 2003. Growing up I experienced a mixture of different cultures and traditions. These experiences at times encourages my inspiration, research and ideas for my design concepts. My project has resulted in a tailored, contemporary womenswear collection with functionality in mind. My concept was inspired by the story of the garden of Eden, particularly focusing on the role and movement of the snake and Adam and Eve. My final line up takes silhouette inspiration from the 1890s, Victorian Era celebrating the women’s tailoring at the time. I studied different depictions of the story within painting and art, which influenced my details and led me to include a sense of decadence.
