Malon Scavenger

Mariusz Malon

Location: Manchester, United Kingdom
University/College: Manchester Fashion Institute Specialisms: Surface Design, wearable art, womenswear
A Queer polish designer specialising in genderless wearable art. Mariusz Malon sees things from a different perspective; making objects that look and feel aesthetically pleasing and creating unique shapes always comes first and then are applied in a fashion context. Texture is at the forefront of Malon’s design development process, and he uses innovative and traditional techniques mixed with found materials to create new textures. Having an eye for objects that would make a show stopping outfit if used the right way, the designer spent a whole year collecting gas canisters found on the streets of Manchester and crocheting around 500 of these disregarded objects to turn trash into wearable art. ‘Malon Scavenger’ is a collection that clashes biker gangs and club kids creating a new clan based in an apocalyptic future. The collection consists of over 1500 metres of rope which was used throughout the 4 looks, using different manipulative techniques and knots to create new surface designs.
