As a designer I aim to celebrate queerness, I design for male presenting bodies as I feel that they are under-catered for in statement wear, especially when embracing femininity. My collection takes inspiration from ancient Greek mythology and art and the story of Atlantis. The collection of structured tailoring takes silhouette and colour inspiration from Greek architecture and pottery, and mirror the reclamation of Atlantis by the sea – reflected through the organic coral shapes. Technology is at the forefront of my work; I use 3D printing to digitally create intricate and bespoke designs that emulate beading. The artwork in this collection includes queer imagery, showing Atlantis as a prospering queer society as a way of celebrating my values. In my third year, I did placements at the Iris van Herpen and Claes Iversen ateliers where I gained amazing experience and skills creating event wear and statement pieces – greatly influencing my final collection.
