Reading Between The Words

I’m Emily, a graduate from Birmingham City University with a BA Hons in Fashion Design with a Professional Placement Year currently based in the West Midlands. My design focus has been on menswear with a simplistic but detailed design style. I am a self-motivated, driven individual who puts their heart into everything they do. In recent projects, I have been hugely inspired by concepts that I have a personal relationship with such as my struggles with dyslexia. I have explored this subject through reflecting on Lucas Dupuy artwork and inspirations as he navigates his connection between perspective, composition and symbols to portray his struggles to read and write with dyslexia. I hold a passion for textiles, specifically knitting where I have experimented with cut up recycled fabrics. With fashion and textiles being very prominent throughout my life, I am very keen to create a career within the fashion industry to utilise my creativity and develop my knowledge and skills.
