We Used to be Happy

Kwun Chun Chan

Location: Manchester / Hong Kong , United Kingdon / Hong Kong
University/College: Manchester Fashion Institute Specialisms: Menswear, pattern cutting, print
A Hong Kong, UK based menswear designer who has recently completed BA(Hons) Fashion at Manchester Metropolitan University. Interested in pattern cutting and fabric manipulation. Loves to put contradicting colours and materials together to bring a new ambience to the design. Often inspired by his daily life experience, Chan’s final collection “We Used to Be Happy” is mainly inspired by the documentary “Father Soldier Son” which talks about the life of a wounded American soldier after he fought in Afghanistan. This combined with the first-hand research about his daily life, Chan created a collection that expresses the emotion of the soldier’s family and the feeling of a ‘normal’ life being interrupted by war, politics and other family issues.
