A Tribute to my mother-Since losing my mother 3 years ago I aim to pay tribute to her.Happy nostalgic memories from my childhood specifically looking at festivities and the traditional outfits my mother dressed me in such as shalwar kameez. My concept began looking at my mother’s embroidery work which consisted of traditional embroidery work she had learned in Pakistan. Specifically at Sindhi embroidery which can be seen in her work.I initially started to draw prints and motifs from her embroidery pieces which were mostly floral designs. I started to question the use of flowers in prints.Since they are heavily used in most designs I have come across and this led me to investigate the history of Mughal art which consisted of detailed floral prints.I have further developed them with my research into regional motifs from Sindh, Pakistan. My concept further developed into looking at my British heritage and specifically looking at my mother’s journey from Pakistan to Keighley, West Yorkshire.
