Womenswear designer interested in outerwear and casual tailoring with industry experience interning at Maria Grachvogel, Atika London and USP. Inspired by the abandoned mining town of Kolmanskop in Namibia, with its empty, sand devoured buildings and eerie doorways. ‘Vacant’ is a collection that explores deconstruction of classic workwear pieces and repurposing of garments and their interior structures. Taking inspiration from this neglected town and its forgotten beauty, alongside photographers; Corrine Day and Jurgen Teller and artist Jean-Michel Basquiat, the collection established a natural, raw and unrefined style. The extensive deconstructing and layering of workwear pieces, helped create the nomadic and unappreciated style of the collection. Sustainability also plays a key role with several garments being created using scraps and left-over fabric from other looks. With a casual mix of soft tailoring, deconstruction and draping, Vacant embodies a relaxed and contemporary style.
