Hop back Hop Forth

Ella Dexter is a menswear designer specialising in tailoring and textiles. Inspired by her grandparents East-end heritage, sourcing photographs from her families archive she explores the forgotten activity of Hop picking in the 1940s. Gathering silhouette inspiration from the hop pickers clothing and fusing this with traditional 1940s suiting. Whilst forming inspiration for her ‘prints’ from WW2 national Identity cards. This gives the overall collection a vintage feel, like we have stepped back in time. As well as 'print’ Dexter incorporates experimental knitted pieces throughout her collection which adds textures to the many layers within each look. Dexter has completed internships with Nicholas Daley and Ahluwalia.
